Would you like to teach in a young offenders institute and make a real difference? This role has a great work life balance (no weekend / late night marking) and is very rewarding.
Based out of Feltham Young Offenders Institute you will be teaching GCSE level, and some functional skills to 15 – 18 year olds, with no more than 8 per class. There is no evening / weekend marking, as you are not allowed to take anything home with you (so apart from lesson planning, there is nothing else at home to prepare for). It’s a 36 hour week, with 24 hours of contact time, and 12 hours to factor in planning, prep and assessment.
Working hours are 8.00 to 4.45 pm, with a 1pm finish on a Friday. They don’t have school holiday breaks, so instead its 25 days annual leave (to take when you want). There are changes at the moment to factor in covid 19, for example staff are going in 10am – 2pm for the interim, and teaching smaller classes.
Please apply via this advert. Happy to accept applications from experienced teachers or NQT’s. Subject experience is essential, but there is no need to have experience of prison / YOI – instead just a passion for making a positive difference and helping people to turn their lives around.
Feel free to call the office and ask for James if you would like to talk to someone first before applying (number on the Red 5 People website). Salary is dependent upon experience.
