Our client is a not-for-profit organisation that works within a number of areas to improve society, such as Justice, Education, and Employment. They deliver an important contract that aims to help ex-offenders to re-integrate back into society and stop them from re-offending. Working as part of a network of providers, your role will be to work with ex-offenders to help them achieve training, education, or employment opportunities.
You will be based in Tower Hamlets and this is a community based role and should not involve prison visits but it may involve some local travel to meet with clients.
You will meet with your clients, and after assessing their situation, put in place milestones for them to move towards employment or education. You will assist them with employment support, job searching, and breaking down their barriers to employment. You will work closely with the employer engagement team to move people into sustainable, realistic employment. Taking on board their needs, you may also refer them to partner support providers as needed (i.e. substance misuse or specific mentoring).
Some experience of working with offenders is essential for this position but it can be either paid or voluntary experience.
Previous successful applicants have been Criminology Graduates, Probation Officers, Employment Advisors or Housing specialists.
